TransPennine Express

TransPennine Express (TPE) operate long distance inter-city services in the north of England.

Their route from Cleethorpes to Manchester uses the Hope Valley Line through the Peak District National Park to get from Sheffield to Stockport and then on to Manchester Piccadilly. Most of their trains run non-stop between Sheffield and Stockport. However, four early morning trains do stop at Dore & Totley Station on the Hope Valley Line for commuters going to Manchester and in the evening four trains stop there on the way back to Sheffield.

TPE trains connect at Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly with the Northern Trains all-stations stopping service along the Hope Valley Line, so if you wish to explore one of the popular villages in the Peak District National Park, change trains at one of those two cities.

If you wish to visit the Buxton Line and are starting your journey on a TPE train, then change at Stockport to connect with the Northern Trains all-stations stopping service via Disley, New Mills and Whaley Bridge to Buxton.

If you are travelling with TPE on their Cleethorpes – Manchester route and wish to use the Glossop Line to get to the Peak District, then make your connection at Manchester Piccadilly into the Northern Trains all-stations stopping service to Hadfield and Glossop.

Other routes operated by TPE which also provide conections at Manchester Piccadilly into the scenic Hope Valley, Buxton and Glossop lines of the Peak District include Hull to Manchester Airport, Middlesborough to Manchester Airport and Huddersfield – Stalybridge – Manchester Piccadilly.

Through tickets are available from TPE to your final Peak District destination and you can find out more ticket information, including details of special offers, on their website at: www.tpexpress.co.uk/train-tickets

TPE staff will help you get on and off their trains if you are a wheelchair user or need any extra help to make your journey safely and conveniently. Please contact their Assisted Travel Team in advance of your journey. This can be done online at www.tpexpress.co.uk/travelling-with-us/assisted-travel or by calling 0800 107 2149.
