Discover Days Out By Rail This Summer

Summer is the perfect time to get out and explore, and this year there’s an even better reason to leave the car at home. The national Days Out by Rail campaign is encouraging families, friends and visitors to discover some of the UK’s most beautiful destinations by train.

With spectacular scenery, charming market towns and historic villages, family attractions and miles of walking and cycling routes, our area is made for exploring by rail. Whether you’re planning a fun day out with the kids, a peaceful picnic or sampling some of the amazing independent shops and cafes across the region, travelling by train is a great way to start your adventure.

Why We’re Supporting Days Out by Rail

The High Peak and Hope Valley boast some of the country’s most scenic railway journeys. By taking part in the Days Out by Rail campaign, we’re encouraging more people to discover everything our area has to offer while supporting sustainable tourism. Every rail journey helps reduce traffic congestion, the impact of parking and cuts carbon emissions.

Travelling by train also means the journey becomes part of the experience. Children love watching the countryside roll by, spotting tunnels and bridges and enjoying the excitement of arriving at a new destination – all without the stress of finding parking.

Great Value Family Days Out by Rail

A family day out doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Travelling by rail can often be much better value than driving.
